BERT J. LaBRECQUE, SR.
BANTAM ?" Bert J. LaBrecque Sr., age 75, of Circle Dr., Bantam, went home to his eternal rest on Friday afternoon, May 16, 2008 after a brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded at home with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He was the husband of Helen (Crestino) LaBrecque.
Bert was born on September 4, 1933 in Caribou Maine, the son of the late Omar and Delia (Gerard) LaBrecque. He grew up in Waterville section of Waterbury CT with his parents and 12 brothers and sisters until he married Helen on April 12, 1958 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville CT. He was a veteran of the US Army having proudly served his country during World War II stationed in Germany. Following his tour of duty, he moved to Oakville CT where he and his wife raised their two children and lived for 45 years. He was employed at the Sealy Mattress Company in Oakville and retired in 1994. In 2003, he and his wife moved to Bantam CT to live with his daughter and family. He enjoyed life with his family at the beach, going to the park, playing with his grandchildren and especially fishing with his son.
Besides his wife, Helen of 50 years, Bert leaves his daughter Marie Coss and her husband Ray of Bantam and his son, Bert J. LaBrecque Jr and his wife Catherine of Canton CT and his grandchildren Robert and Kristie LaBrecque and Carl Coss. He also leaves several nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 9:30 am from the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville to St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St. Watertown for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in MT Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 ?" 9:30 am.
