THOMASTON, CT - Mr. Bruce D. Bates, age 63 of Thomaston, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia (Fuller) Bates.
Bruce was born October 31, 1951 in Waterbury, CT, the son of Dean Bates Sr. and the late Alice (Petrokaitis) Bates of Watertown. He grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School. Bruce worked for several manufacturing companies in the Thomaston area, retiring from Astro Electric. His favorite things were spending time with his grandchildren, walks with his dogs, Candlewood Lake, and big game hunting in the mid-west with his best friend, Ronnie.
Besides his wife of 35 years, Bruce is survived by his father, Dean Bates and his step-mother, Rolande LeClair of Terryville, his sons, Bret Bates, Danny Bates and his wife Jennifer all of Thomaston, his brothers, Dean Bates Jr and his wife Vida of Watertown, Donald Bates and his wife Paula of Oxford, his sister Debra Burns and her husband Dave of Thomaston. He also leaves his beloved mother in-law, Mary Fuller and his broth er in law Peter Fuller and his wife Diane of Thomaston as well as his grandchildren, Collin, Brionna, and Bronson.
