WATERTOWN - Burton N. Camp, age 92, of 60 Raspberry Lane, Watertown, passed away peacefully Sunday April 2, 2017 at Abbott Terrace Healthcare Center of Waterbury, CT.

Mr. Camp was born 3/06/25, son of William H, and Lucy Ann (Ryder) Camp. Burt was the loving father of six children, and survived by two daughters Cher and her husband Don Groody, Karen and her husband Richard Wither, both of Watertown; three sons, Burton N. Jr. and his wife Karen of Thomaston, Kevin and his wife Jacqueline of Bergenfield, New Jersey , and David of Palm Coast, Florida along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Beverly L. (Douty) Camp and son, Russell C. Camp of South Carolina, 5 brothers & 2 sisters: Laurie, Wilfred L., Elias L., Eugene M. and Josiah Camp, Grace E. Miller, and Martha W. Pisani.

Burt was born in Renova, PA, grew up in Williamsport and moved to Connecticut in 1934. He received the Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal for his service in the US NAVY on the USS Bottineau, APA 235 Battle Ship. He served in the European Theater of WW II, under 366 Battalion /Army Amphibious Forces. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaigns in North Africa, Tunisia, and Sicily, Utah Beach and Normandy fronts, then traveled to the South Pacific at the end of the war.

After serving in the Navy, Burt worked as a milk man for Burkes Dairy of Naugatuck, a machinist at the Waterbury Farrel Foundry for 9 years, and the US Rubber Company/Uniroyal in Naugatuck for 22 years. Burt was a long time friend of Helen & the late Howard Fassett, working part time on the BBQ Machine for over 41 years. He loved hunting and fishing and was a past member of the Woodbury/Southbury Rod & Gun Club, the NRA and the Watertown Senior Center.
Burt will be greatly missed by his family and friends at Steel Brook, Watertown and Woodside Manor in Oakville, CT. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, aids and Trish at Abbott Terrace for the wonderful medical care, respect and affection they demonstrated to Burt and the other clients of the Dementia Unit.

The O'Neill Funeral, 742 Main Street, Oakville has been entrusted with the arrangements. Calling hours will be Thursday April 6 from 5 to 7 PM at Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
