AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME Mrs. Carmen M. (Chasse) Deschaine, age 93, formerly of Wolcott, died Monday at the Sullivan County Nursing Home, Claremont NH after an extended illness. She was the widow of Ludger Deschaine.
Carmen was born on April 25, 1916 in St. Agatha Maine, a daughter of the late Felix and Sophie (Bouchard) Chasse. She moved to Connecticut from Maine in 1937 and then to New Hampshire in 1978. She worked for many years as a buffer at the Holgrath Co. in Waterbury. Her own life was centered around cooking and caring for her family. She loved her flower gardens and was an avid card player. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Claremont.
Mrs. Deschaine leaves a son, Robert Deschaine and his wife Gloria of Claremont NH 3 daughters, Judith Johnson and her husband Gus of Watertown, Rita Deschaine of Claremont NH and Diane Stone and her husband Pete of Campton NH, 1 brother, Norman of Wolcott and 2 sisters, Rolande Lannon of Wolcott and Marcella Benson of Oakville. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Sylvio, William, Henry, Rene, Levi and Leonard are deceased.
Funeral services for Mrs. Deschaine will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 9:15 am from the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville to St. John the Evangelist Church, Main St. Watertown for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 815 ?" 9:15am.
