Waterbury Mrs. Carmen B. Matlega age 90, of Terryville, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 6th 2013 at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow of William Betancourt and Frank Matlega.
Mrs. Matlega was born July 25th 1922 in Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Angelina Mallorca. She was raised in the New York City area and worked for Sherwood Medical as a Quality Control Inspector. She enjoyed gardening and animals and was always happiest while she was spending time with her family.
Among her survivors are her sons, Ralph Betancourt and his wife Stephanie of Waterbury, Robert Betancourt of Berlin, a stepson, Raymond Edward Betancourt and his wife Melody Ann of San Diego and her stepdaughter, Christina Matlega of Waterbury. She is predeceased by her brothers, Domingo, Blanco Ralph Quinones and her sister Nila Delgado.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Matlega will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Eastside Memorial, "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" has been entrusted to assist the family with the arrangements. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mrs. Matlega can be made to the Alzheimer's Association 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472
