ATERBURY - Carmine P. Abondolo Jr, age 90, of Waterbury passed away peacefully Tuesday November 25, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Lucille (Gelinas) Abondolo.
Carmine was born May 1st, 1925 in Waterbury, Ct the son of the late Carmine and Pasqualina (Marra) Abondolo. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and spent most of his career as a carpenter. After retirement from carpentry, Carmine spent several years working at Reymond's Bakery. He proudly served his country with the US Navy during WWII as a member of the Navy Sea Bee's, he was a member of the Wolcott, VFW Post # 1979 as well as a longtime parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul's Church. What brought the greatest joy to Carmine was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, and great grandchildren.
Besides his wife Lucille of 60 years, Carmine is survived by his daughter, Joanne Daigle and her husband, Alan of Southbury, his brothers Mario Abondolo and his wife, Gloria of Newtown, and Dante Abondolo and his wife, Beatrice of FL. his granddaughter, Stephanie Gardner, and her husband, Andrew and his great grandchildren Brooke & Dylan. He is predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Gennaro Abondolo and his sister Florence Stanco.
The Abondolo family wishes to thank and acknowledge all those who provided care to Carmine during his illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Abondolo will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 at 10:00am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St Waterbury to Saint Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Family and friends may visit with Carmine's family at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:00 until the time of the service at10:00.
