WATERBURY - Carolyn Katherine Cavanaugh, 74, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving and devoted wife of David Cavanaugh Sr. of 48 years.
She was born in Bronx, NY on March 11, 1942 the daughter of the late Vito F. and Rita F. (Egan) Nole. She was a graduate of Croft High School and was a lifelong resident of Waterbury. Carolyn was a licensed Hairdresser and Cosmetologist. She worked many years in assisting her father run Glenbrook Country Club in Wolcott.
Carolyn loved going places with her husband and could easily strike up a conversation with anyone she met. She loved to laugh, tell jokes and brag about her children and grandchildren. The love and purpose of her life was taking care of her family. She treasured spending time with her husband and raising their children together. She was devoted to her family, making them her number one priority. She never missed a school concert, play, swim meet or sporting event of her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 3 children; daughter, Rita Bergin and her husband, Joseph of Waterbury, her son, David Cavanaugh Jr. of Middletown and daughter, Linda Ciupa of Cheshire. She will be deeply missed by her 7 grandchildren; Courtney and Connor Bergin, Matthew and Connor Cavanaugh and Corinne, Noelle and Jessica O'Toole. The memories and lessons she has taught them will live on forever. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Nole and his wife, Pam of Bethlehem and sister, Mary Jane Paoli and her husband, Jack of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital, Gaylord Healthcare and especially close family friend, Megan O'Toole for her caring and compassion, advocating in providing the best care direction during Carolyn's illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cavanaugh will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd in Waterbury to SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd in Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Family and friends may visit with Carolyn's family on Wednesday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
