WATERBURY - Carroll E. Murphy, age 81 of Waterbury CT, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Mary (Aston) Murphy who he was lost without after her passing.

Carroll was born on June 28, 1937 in Fort Fairfield ME, the son of the late Donald and Muriel (Woodland) Murphy. He was employed for many years as a Pipe and Steam Fitter with UA Local 777. Carroll was a hardworking, family man, who was always available to help friends family and neighbors with any of their mechanical needs, even in the middle of the night. He was a longtime parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception but what was most important to Carroll was his family, the wellbeing of his wife, children and grandchildren. After his wife Mary passed he enjoyed picnics and holidays at his sons house, Christmas Eve at Marjorie's house and when he was more mobile day trips with his daughter Mary. For Carroll there was no greater priority. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Murph had many nicknames, among those, Suti Ray, Poppy, Red, Dad, Poppyhead, Grandpa, Cooters, The Ole Fitter and Wrought among many others. He was famous for the "Suti Pat", even passing it down to his great grandsons.

He is survived by his children; Carol Damelio and her husband, Phil Marcoux of Waterbury, Donald Murphy and his wife, Lisa of Wolcott, Mary Aurio and her husband, Gary of Waterbury, Marjorie Malaspina and her husband, Joseph of Middlebury, and Nancy Murphy of Plantsville. He also leaves two sisters; Linda Cariello of Cheshire and Jane Gould of Wolcott and his devoted grandchildren; Jacqueline Mancini and her husband, Michael, Carly Murphy, Shannon Murphy, DeAnna Aurio, Devin Aurio, Alexandra Malaspina, Sydney Malaspina, and his two great grandsons; Luca and Leo Mancini. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Murphy, his granddaughter, Delores Damelio, his sister, Barbara Gay and his son-in-law, Robert Damelio.

Funeral services for Mr. Murphy will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception 74 West Main St on the Green in Waterbury at 9:30 a.m. Those planning on attending are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown CT. Relatives and friends may visit with Carroll's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury.
