WATERBURY - Catherine "Kay" (Byron) Reagan, age 100 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on May 20, 2016 at the Cheshire House. She was the widow of William Reagan.
Kay was born on July 26, 1915 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late William and Kathryn (Dowd) Byron. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School and was a lifelong Waterbury resident of Washington Hill. She worked for many years as the School Secretary at St. Francis Xavier School. She and her husband Bill were devoted parishioners of St Francis Xavier Church, active in the parish, PTA and helped with their Pre-Cana conferences.
Kay was a lady for all ages. She was the consummate doer. She was filled with an incredibly strong, yet gentle goodness - always at the ready to support a friend or to expertly take care of the newborn babies in the family. Her strength carried family through the decades of a century. She was loved for her famous kitchen goodies - a constant labor of love. In Kay's one hundred years on this earth she touched the lives of countless people who appreciate and take comfort in her legacy. Kay's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and acknowledge the staff at the Southmayd Home in Waterbury where Kay spent 10 wonderful years as well as the staff at the Cheshire House where she spent her final days.
Kay is survived by her son, William Reagan and his wife, Cynthia of Cheshire, her daughters, Pat Stanley and her husband, James of Cheshire and Catherine Thompson and her husband, Peter of Waterbury. She also leaves 9 grandchildren, Lynne, Larissa, Liana, Scott, Brett, Craig, Kate, William III and Beth as well as 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two grandchildren, Brian and Carrie.
Funeral services for Mrs. Reagan will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. to St. Francis Xavier Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Kay's family on Monday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, to honor Kay's memory, donations to St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin St. Waterbury
