THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF CATHERINE SULLIVAN THOMAS
WATERBURY - Catherine Sullivan Thomas, age 81 of Waterbury, passed away on
Thursday September 28, 2017 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital
after an extended illness. She was the widow of Charles H. Thomas.
Catherine was born August 15, 1936 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Carl and
Irene (McGrath) Sullivan. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and
attended Post Jr. College, where she studied computer programing and data entry. In
addition to dedicating herself to raising her family, she worked as a data entry clerk for
Timex and the Bristol Babcock Company. She was an avid UCONN Women's
Basketball fan, loved watching the NY Yankees, and enjoyed reading. Catherine had a
strong faith in God and lived her life with courage, bravery and determination, despite the
many obstacles and challenges she faced. Catherine always looked forward to getting
together with many of her high school friends with whom she always stayed in contact
with. Catherine will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know and love her.
Among her survivors are her children: Charles Thomas and his wife, Tammy of Venice,
FL., Donald Thomas of Waterbury, and Kathleen Thomas and her husband, Darius
Marhamati of Utica, NY. Catherine is also survived by her siblings: Ralph Sullivan of
Vienna,VA., Mercedes Greene of Southington, Nancy Sullivan Wiatr of Waterbury and
her sister-in-law, Denise Sullivan of Waterbury. In addition, she is also leaves her five
grandchildren, Charles, Alexandra, Jackson, Leila, and Juliet as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen E. Sullivan.
Funeral services for Catherine will be held on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017 at 10:30
a.m. from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. Waterbury, CT
06705 to Saints Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd., where a Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery,
Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Catherine's family on Wednesday
