AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Cecilia Rita (Martone) Sbordone, age 87 of Belden Street, Watertown, died peacefully at the home of her daughter Rita George in Springfield on December 12, 2009. She was the widow of Joseph Sbordone.
Rita was born March 21, 1922 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Michael and Ruth (LaBoudy) Martone and lived in Watertown most of her life. She was educated in Waterbury Schools. Cecilia has worked as an accountant for several years and was a communicant of Saint John the Evangelist Church where she was also an active member of the church choir.
She leaves two daughters Rita George and her husband John of Springfield, Mass., Ruth LaMotte and her husband Michael of Watertown, a brother Michael Martone of Waterbury, two cousins Loraine Platt and Gertrude Hunter, four grandchildren Paula Nicora and her husband Mike, Jenny Goodchild and her husband Matt, Joseph George, Marnie Sbordone, four great grandchildren Mikaela, Domenic and Camryn Nicora and Aubrey Goodchild.
Funeral Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street to Saint John the Evangelist Church for Mass at 10. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
