Mr. Celestino "Tino" Toucet Sr.

WATERBURY—It is with profound sadness that the family of Celestino (Tino) P. Toucet Sr. age 71, of Waterbury, share the news of his peaceful passing on Thursday, December 19th, 2024, at Autumn Lakes Healthcare.  

Tino was born on May 15, 1953, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Tino was the beloved son of the late Celestino and Milagros Toucet. He later settled in Waterbury, CT, where he became a cherished member of the community. For twenty-two years, Tino drove for Northeast Transportation, earning the respect and gratitude of passengers and colleagues alike for his commitment and friendly demeanor. Tino was a jokester at heart and loved entertaining family and friends with good food, lively music, and spirited dancing. His infectious humor and vibrant personality made gatherings memorable and filled with joy. He had a lifelong passion for bowling, dedicating over 30 years to the sport he truly loved. Additionally, Tino was an avid softball player, spending over 25 years playing for the Puerto Rican Youth Organization (PRYO) and then the SALSA League, where he forged lasting friendships and celebrated his love for the game. Tino’s warm heart, kind nature, and steadfast dedication to his loved ones touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Papi. Your humor, love, and joyful spirit will forever remain in our hearts. 

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are four children: Damaris Albanese and her husband Anthony of Waterbury, Celestino Toucet Jr. and his wife Nyree of Waterbury, Ruben Toucet of Waterbury, and Cristal Toucet of Waterbury. He was the proud grandfather of five loving grandchildren: Jazmin Grullon, Celestino III, Peyton, Nathan, and Alayna Toucet, and a cherished great-grandfather of Madison Grullon. He is also survived by his brother, two sisters, and several cherished nieces and nephews. He is reunited in eternal rest with his parents and two sisters who predeceased him. 

Relatives and friends may visit with the Toucet family on Monday, January 6, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casey’s Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Loving-kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence and share a memory or words of comfort with the family and friends of someone who was important to you.
