WATERBURY - Staff Sergeant Charles Daniel Parent, age 35 of Waterbury departed this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He was the loving husband of Bernadette (Isaacs) Parent.
Charles was born February 6, 1981 in Waterbury, CT, the son of Roland and Noreen (Bergin) Parent of Waterbury. He attended Central Christian Academy in Southington and proudly served his country with the US Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served two tours in Iraq. He served in the 101st Airborne, D Battery, 2-44 Air Defense Artillery and was an instructor in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Known as Chuck to his buddies, he had a strong bond with and loyalty to those with whom he served. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor as well as many other commendations and was honorably discharged as a disabled veteran. Charles was a loving and dedicated husband, father, son, and brother. He was a friend to everyone and was well respected throughout the community and the military. Charles' greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially with his children.
Besides his parents, and his wife Bernadette, Charles is survived by his sons, Roland Daniel Parent and Charles Jeremy Parent and his daughter, Bella Brenda Lee Parent. He also leaves his siblings and their families - Kelsey Coker, Jessica Fronzo, Amy Schwartz, Jeremy Morotto, Joshua Parent, and Emily Burns. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Robert J. Isaacs and his maternal grandmother Bette Bergin of Waterbury and predeceased by his grandparents Charles F. Bergin and Albert and Corona Parent. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Funeral services with Full Military Honors for Staff Sergeant Parent will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Casey's Eastside Memorial 1987 East Main St at Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends and relatives may visit with Charles' family at the funeral home on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 4:00 ~ 7:00 PM.
