OAKVILLE -Charles Smith Jr. age 86 , passed away on Wednesday evening at the Apple Health and Rehab in Watertown after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Doris E. Smith.
Charles was born December 8, 1928, the son of the late Charles Smith Sr and Bernadine (Gippert) Smith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, Corp of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. Charles was employed for many years in the Fire Protection Industry as an Engineer. He was an active and distinguished Leader of the Boy Scouts of America and served at local, state and national levels. Where he was honored with many awards. Charles was a member of the local Masonic Lodge but most of all he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his sons and grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his two sons, William and his wife, Marli of Oakville and Charles III and his wife, Lisa of Bethel. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexander, Morgan, Jordan and Andrew.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville. Burial with full military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown.
