WATERBURY – Cheryl J. Anthony, age 65, of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William Anthony.
Cheryl was born on February 23rd, 1958, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Roy and Genevieve (Raimo) Smith. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and studied hairdressing at Sampieri School of Hair Design. Cheryl spent many years as a hairstylist at His N Hers hair salon, but her true passion was assisting those with intellectual disabilities. She has spent the last 15 years working as a job coach at Transitional Employment Unlimited, where she assisted people with special needs with job training and placement throughout the community. Cheryl was a devoted mother and grandmother and was always happiest while spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. The family will always cherish the many memories they shared together while taking their trips to Wildwood, NJ, which was one of Cheryl’s favorite places to visit.
Besides her husband William of 37 years, Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Jaclyn Sanzari and her husband Dominick of Newington, and her sisters; Barbara Zwiebel of PA and Louella Rostedt of Watertown. In addition, Cheryl leaves her two adoring granddaughters, Zoey and Eliana, and was predeceased by her son, William R. Anthony.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anthony will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2024, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St Leo the Great Church, Bentwood Dr., Waterbury, CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of her family. Relatives and friends may visit with Cheryl’s family on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury, CT.
