THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF CHERYL L. (CORONA) THOMES

"Owner - Head Coach, USA Wildcats "

WATERBURY - Cheryl L. (Corona) Thomes, age 60 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital on Sunday, November 6th 2021. She was the beloved wife of Robert Thomes.

Cheryl was born on May 9th 1961 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of Agnes Corona. Cheryl was a lifelong Waterbury resident and was a graduate of Kennedy High School. Cheryl's life revolved around cheerleading which was her passion. She was the former cheer coach at Holy Cross High School, Southern Connecticut State University and Quinnipiac University and led the schools to many championships at the state and national level. In 1997, Cheryl started her own cheerleading program and became the owner, operator and coach of USA Wildcats All Star Cheerleading Organization which was a lifelong dream for her. Since that time, she mentored, guided and inspired thousands of athletes and lead them to multiple national titles. When Cheryl wasn't focusing on coaching, she was always happiest relaxing on a quiet white sand beach, preferably in the Caribbean Islands. Cheryl, taken from us all way too soon, will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her mother, Agnes and husband, Bob of 40 years, are her best friend and daughter, Alyssa Farrington and her husband, Michael of Prospect as well as her sister-in-law, Kathy Volz and her husband Brian, Kathy's children; Katie, Erin, Brian and Matthew in addition to her 2 brothers, 3 sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends and family are invited to visit with Cheryl's' family of Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. We continue to remain concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services whether you are vaccinated or not. Memories last only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or personal memory with the Thomes family on Cheryl's tribute page at www.eastsidememorial.com .
