WATERBURY - Chester Joseph Fazzino, 92, lifelong resident of Waterbury, passed away on June 15, 2024 after a short illness.
The youngest of four children, Chester was born on November 5, 1931, to the late Matteo and Sophia Fazzino. He graduated from Wilby High School then joined the Army and proudly served his country for seven years. In 1956, Chester married Eleanor Conklin. He was a devoted husband and best friend until her passing in 2022. Together they were the most supportive, encouraging, and unconditionally loving parents to their five children, Joseph, Matthew, David, John, and Cathleen. Chester worked at Connecticut Light & Power (Yankee Gas, Northeast Utilities, Eversource) for 35 years. He later went on to drive school buses in Waterbury and Wolcott. Chester was an active member of Saint Peter and Pauls’ Parish. He treasured family vacations in Westbrook and Cape Cod. He loved his New York teams - Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. He enjoyed trips to the casinos and shows at the Palace Theater with his Eleanor. After his wife passed, Chester enjoyed spending time watching movies, games, and concerts with his son and housemate, John.
Besides his loving wife, he was predeceased by his son, Matthew, brothers Vito and James, as well as his sister Carmella Cossu. He is survived by his children; Joseph (Valerie), David (Lynn), John, and Cathleen (Robert). He also leaves several grandchildren, great grandchildren, two special nieces, Maryjo Nalband (Matt), and Lori Sue Cordeau (Paul), and great grandnieces!
Funeral services for Mr. Fazzino will be held on Thursday June 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, St Leo the Great Church 14 Bentwood Ave Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
