Mrs. Concepcion Bergoderi

Witty sense of humor, loved by all

HARWINTON – Concepcion (Cordero Pietri) Bergoderi, age 80, of Harwinton formerly of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in the comfort of her home. She was the loving wife of Luis Felipe Bergoderi for 60 devoted years.

Concepcion was born December 4, 1942 in Utuado, Puerto Rico to her birth parents, the late Manuel and Carmen (Martinez) Cordero, and adopted by the late Santiago and Juana (Muriente) Pietri. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and went on to Naugatuck Valley Community College to receive certification as a certified nurse’s assistant and phlebotomist. Concepcion was a hairdresser in her earlier years and then retired from the City of Waterbury as a Teachers Assistant where she worked for many years. She enjoyed cheering on the New York Yankees and UConn basketball, listening to Frank Sinatra, and a Charles Bronson Fan. Concepcion had a witty sense of humor; always answered “21” when someone asked her age, and to how do you feel? She would reply “with my hands”. What Concepcion loved the most was spending time with her family. She will be missed by all those who were blessed to love and know her. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, every candle you lit to protect us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.

Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband, Luis who was the love of her life, her best friend and # 1 caregiver, are her 3 children; Yvette (William) Finlay, Luis (VirnaLisa) Bergoderi Jr., and Anita (Joseph) Baranowski, 5 grandchildren; William Finlay Jr., Robert Finlay, Natalia Baranowski, Giselle Baranowski, and Tyler Bergoderi, and her beloved dog, Lucky. She also leaves her siblings; Domingo (Carmen) Pietri, Manuel (Diane) Cordero, brother-in-law, Douglas (Joann) Bergoderi, sister-in-law, Grace Velez, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Antonio Velez.

Mere words are but a feeble attempt to express our family’s gratitude for the care and love that the Foothills Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County shared with Mom and all of us during her illness.

A Memorial Service for Concepcion will be held on Tuesday, September 5th 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main Street Waterbury, CT. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may gather with Concepcion’s family from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 am.
