THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF CORNEILUS SANDS
WATERBURY - Cornelius Dean Sands, age 60, of Waterbury passed away July 8th, 2020 surrounded by his loving daughter and family. He was the husband of Sharon Sands.
Cornelius was born July 1, 1960 in Waterbury to the late Curtis Dean and Claudine Sands. He was educated in the Waterbury Public School System. He worked various jobs including machine tool operator, landscaping and painting houses which he was passionate about. Cornelius loved getting together with family to teach about African American culture and creating his own games and riddles to engage the family. His family will never forget his saying "Know What You Know and Know What You Don't Know". His last words for the family was "tell everyone I Love them"!
Left to honor his memory and cherish love and legacy his daughters Keshia (Delton) Rogers and Rashael Sands. His grandchildren; Tyshon Rogers, Zah'Nyah Scott, Emonisty Waterman and Amyia Rogers. A great grandson Sakani Waterman. Step children Chris, Kelly, Cory and Quincy. He was also a mentor to Patrick and AJ. He is survived by sisters Tajuana Sands, Claudette Sands, Bernadette (Dennis) Jordan and Selicia Sands. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by brother Irving Sands and granddaughter Tyasia Rogers.
The family of Cornelius Sands would like to acknowledge with heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Season's Hospice Care. A great Thank You for everyone's many acts of kindness, love, support and expression of sympathy extended to the family during the passing of our loved one and time of sorrow.

starting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may visit with Cornelius's family, complying with all applicable social distancing guidelines on Thursday July 16, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home 1987 East Main St. Waterbury CT 06705. Please wait outside until instructed to enter the funeral home by staff members.
