WATERBURY - Cory King (Evans), age 41 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at Yale New Haven Hospital after a 9 year courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 7, 2019. He was the fiance of Veronica James.
Cory was born in the Bronx, NY, the son of Nathaniel Evan and Florretta King-Evans both of the Bronx, NY. He was a graduate of Dewitt-Clinton High School in the Bronx and received his accounting degree from Western Connecticut State University. Cory spent several years working as a Life Skills Instructor for Ability Beyond Disability where he met his fiancé Veronica and went to pursue his career working as an accountant for the Danbury News Times Newspaper. Cory was an avid sports fan especially football and basketball. There was nothing more important to Corey than his daughter, Kahlia, whom he loved to spend time with and always looked forward to their father/daughter date night at the movies, doing homework after school, spending weekends at his Mother's house. Cory will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. He was a quiet gentle soul.
Left to remember, cherish, and honor Cory's love and legacy, besides his parents and fiancé, are his beloved daughter, Kahlia King, his step children: Sashe James, Damani James and Nashua Lovett. In addition, he leaves his two older brothers, Daimon King and Nathanial King and his sister-in-law Naydu Roberts as well as his niece, Jahnay Roberts and nephew Nathanial Roberts King and Grandmother, Cynthia Daniel; Aunt, Mary Thomas, Cousins; Keasha Thomas-Walker and Liza Brown; other aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends. They reside in Connecticut, the Bronx, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, and Barbados.
Funeral Services for Mr. King will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St.@ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Mr. King's family on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service at noon at the funeral home.
