Retired Waterbury Police Sergeant
WATERBURY- Cosmas “Butch” Daddona, age 89, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at the Glendale Health Care Center in Naugatuck. He was the widower of Barbara Daddona.
Butch was born December 9th, 1933 in Inwood Long Island, NY, the son of the late Tomaso and Josephine (Gentile) Daddona. Butch grew up in Waterbury and was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven. Butch proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Seattle from 1954 to 1956. Butch spent 34 years working for the City of Waterbury Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in 1992. He enjoyed reading, traveling, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, taking trips to the casino, and playing in several bowling leagues at Perillo’s Duckpin Bowling and the Waterbury Elks Club. Butch will be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband and father and as someone who was always willing to help others in need.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, are his children; Richard Daddona Sr. and his wife, Debra of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; Doris Bellamare and her husband Arthur of Naugatuck, his grandchildren; Angela Daddona, Richard Daddona Jr and his wife Danielle, and Arthur and Victoria Bellamare. He also leaves his sisters; Katherine Murphy of Waterbury, and Juliana Scheuer of Willowick, OH. He was predeceased by his sister, Dina Russo and brothers; Nicholas, Joseph, and Daniel Daddona
Funeral services for Mr. Daddona were held privately and held at the convenience of his family.
