WATERBURY- Cristina Quinonez, age 80, of Waterbury, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Felix Quinonez and Luisa Fragoso.
She attended La Universidad de Puerto Rico where she received her degree in Social Work. Cristina enjoyed reading, travel and adventure, and sewing skirts for her granddaughter and pillow cases for everyone. She especially loved gardening. Mami truly loved nature and found beauty everywhere.
She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. Tula will miss her 1:00 pm naps with you.
Cristina leaves behind her children, Juan M. Rivera of P.R., Naida I. Mendez of P.R., Nitza J. Mendez of P.R., Brenda E. Mendez of CT, Wilfred Rodriguez of CT, Becky Rodriquez and her husband Manny of CT, and Jerry A. Rodriguez of P.R. She also leaves her 10 grandchildren as well as several great grandchildren.
Cristina's family would like to give a special thanks to Celerme Adames- Castro, for her care and gentleness.
Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give. "You cannot do kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late."
A celebration of Cristina's life, along with a tree planting ceremony, will be held in El Yunque Rainforest Rio Grande, Puerto Rico on Sunday, January 20, 2020.
