WATERBURY- Ms. Cynthia Council, age 56, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 30th 2021 at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness.
Cynthia was born in Greenville, NC on July 6th 1964 the daughter of Lenny Lee Council and Sadie (Locke) Bush both of Waterbury. Cynthia was raised in Waterbury where she attended local schools and was a graduate of Wilby High School. Cynthia spent many years working alongside her family at Total Essence Salon as a hair stylist. She later became the owner and operator of Essence to Essence Beauty Salon. Cynthia was a fashionista at heart and loved everything regarding fashion and beauty. She was the organizer and host of many local and out of state fashion shows. Cynthia touched the heart of everyone she met and she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy, besides her parents are her children; Keyon Council, Denisha Rountree, and Shanice Roseboro, all of Waterbury. She also leaves her siblings; Andre, Juanita, Deborah, Fitzgerald and Jericha all of Waterbury, Lamont, and Orlando Council of North Carlina In addition, Cynthia leaves her five adoring grandchildren which were her greatest pride and joy; Seraya, Keyon Jr. Keyondre, Keyoshja, Keymialee.
Funeral services for Ms. Council will be held on Tuesday, June 8th 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service,1987 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends and relatives may visit with the Council family on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00. Until the greater Waterbury area reaches a 70% threshold of vaccinated population, those visiting the funeral home are requested to remain masked while inside or attending services Memories last only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or personal memory with the Council family on Cynthia's tribute page at
