WATERBURY - Dorris Eugene "Gene" Outler age 81 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital on November 2, 2019. He was the husband of Katherine (Adams) Outler.
Gene was born September 26th 1938 in Vidalia, GA, the son of the late Willie and Bessie (Carter) Outler. He spent his career working as a printer's apprentice for various companies including Hildreth Press and Gamma 1 Printing before his retirement and was the former Vice President of the Printing Union. Gene was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball and football and looked forward to his evening game shows on television. He liked to stay updated with current affairs by watching shows like, 60 Minutes. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather brother and friend, Gene will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his love and legacy are his wife, Katherine of 40 plus years, his daughters; Felicia and Victoria Outler, his two sons; Russell Outler and his wife Tory, and Daniel Outler. In addition he was blessed with three granddaughters Danielle, & Layna Outler and Adanna Niles-Outler, his grandson, Ira Niles-Outler, his sister, Bobbie Bentley and brother. Walter Outler. He also leaves four sister in laws, three brother in laws and a host of aunt's, uncle's, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Outler will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Relatives and friends may visit with Gene's family on Saturday morning from 12:00 till 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
