THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF DALE STARBIRD
WATERBURY - Dale Starbird, age 77 of Waterbury, passed away at his home after a courageous battle with lung disease on Friday, May 24th 2019. He was the former husband of Phyllis Starbird.
Dale was born December 6, 1941 in Farmington, Maine, the son of the late Ingram and Elise (Sabine) Starbird. He was raised in Strong, Maine where he attended local schools. Dale spent many years working in the restaurant and hospitality industry, including the Boston Ritz Carlton and other various high-end restaurants in the greater Hartford area. Later in life, he began working as an Ice Cream man selling candies and ice cream from his truck and was affectionally known to many of the neighborhood children as "Dale the Ice Cream Man". He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always happiest while spending time with his children and family especially his beloved grandchildren. He will be remembered for his quick-witted jokes and sense of humor and constant sarcasm.
Among his survivors are his children; Debbie Hinckley, Betty Jean Roy and her husband, Larry, Kelly Starbird, Kenneth Starbird and his wife, Kim; Kevin Starbird and his wife, Sarah, and Kimberly Starbird. He also leaves his sister, Betty Goglia, brothers Vernon Baston, and John Baston, his 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his children, Richard Starbird, Sherry Starbird, Kerri Starbird and his brother, William Cook,
A Service of Remembrance for Mr. Starbird will be held on Sunday evening June 2, 2019 at 7:45 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Road, Waterbury CT 06705. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Dale's family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 till the service at 7:45pm.
