PLYMOUTH - Mr. Daniel Donovan, age 66, passed away unexpectedly after an accident in Plymouth, CT on February 1, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Judy (Lyons) Donovan, for 41 years.
Dan was born in Waterbury on June 14, 1956, the son of the late William and Genevieve (Moore) Donovan. He attended Saints Peter and Paul grammar school and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. Dan worked with the City of Waterbury where he served with distinction for 25 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed making maple syrup and was an active member of the Thomaston Fish and Game Club. He was a devoted grandfather and loved to spend time with his four grandchildren, and regularly vacationed on Cape Cod. He was always the first willing to help anyone that needed anything at all. Dan and his family will always be remembered for their annual pig roast. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. May his memory live on in his children, grandchildren, and all those who were close to him.
Dan leaves his wife of 41 years, Judy, are his children; Brian Michael Donovan, Julie Ann Arriola, Garrett Willaim Donovan. His 4 grandchildren: Lylah Rose, Luis, Geovanni, and Isaac. He also leaves his siblings; William (Maureen) Donovan, Kathy Donovan, Patricia (John) Campion, Eileen Donovan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Not to be forgotten are his beloved pets; dogs, Stanley and Zena and George the cat.
Funeral services for Mr. Donovan will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mary, Mother of the Church, SS Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow [With FULL FIRE Department HONORS} in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Dan’s family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
