THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF DAVID J. MARSH
NAUGATCUK - David J. Marsh age 73, of Naugatuck, passed away unexpectedly at Waterbury Hospital on Monday, January 17, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Van Horn) Marsh.
David was born September 14th 1948 in Milford, CT, the son of the late Harry Clifford and Maureen (Purtell) Marsh Jr. He was raised in Milford and was a graduate of Johnathan Law High School. He then joined the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Alaska as an Air Traffic Controller and then Montana during the Vietnam war era. After arriving home, David spent many years working as a manager at Baker Shoe store and then spent 35 years as a production supervisor at R.C. Bigelow in Fairfield until his retirement in 2019. David enjoyed duckpin bowling at his family's bowling alley in Devon where he also had his first job in the family business, fishing and watching classic black and white movies. There was nothing more important to David than his family especially his grandchildren, whom he was extremely proud of and was always happiest while spending time with them.
Left to honor his memory and cherish his legacy are his wife of 52 years Linda, his daughter Susan DiVito and her husband Jason of Waterbury, his son David J. Marsh II and his wife Andrea of Oxford, his sisters Anne Marie Gilbert and her husband Ronald of Torrington, Veronica Susan Smith and her husband James of West Haven and a brother H. Clifford Marsh III, as well as his brothers in law William Van Horn of Winter Harbor, ME and Thomas Van Horn and his wife Doreen of Hamden. David and Linda were very proud grandparents of their 7 grandchildren that meant the world to them: Gina, Anthony, Alyssa, Jasmine, Nicolas, Danica, and Elena. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and half siblings.
A Memorial Gathering for Mr. Marsh will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, CT 06705. A Military Honors and Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in David's name. We continue to remain very concerned about the ongoing pandemic so masks will be required during all indoor services regardless of your current vaccination status.
