THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF DAVID MCCARTHY

OAKVILLE - David R. McCarthy Sr., Age 76, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 10, 2018 at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Patricia McCarthy.

David was born March 12, 1942 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late James and Margaret (Pedan) McCarthy. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War era and spent many years working as a quality control inspector for BMI manufacturing before his retirement. He enjoyed dining out, camping, spending time with his family and watching television to stay on top of current affairs. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Besides his wife of 55 years, David is survived by his son, David McCarthy Jr his daughter, Dianne Bigham and her fiancé, Peter Lukes, his brother, Peter Bearce and sister, Bonnie Morse. In addition, he also leaves his grandchildren, Thomas, Erica, and Aiden. He was predeceased by his siblings, James and Gerald McCarthy.

The McCarthy family would like to thank and acknowledge the doctors and staff at the Hartford Health Care at Home for the love, care, and support they provided to David and his family during his illness. To honor David's memory, contributions may be made to the Harold Leever Cancer Center at 1075 Chase Parkway Waterbury, CT 06708.

Funeral services for Mr. McCarthy will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St Mary Magdalen Church 16 Buckingham St Oakville CT. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St, Oakville has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
