RETIRED WATERTOWN SCHOOL CUSTODIAN
WATERTOWN - David J. Monterosso Sr., age 80, of Watertown passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 23, 2019 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Beverly (Donahue) Monterosso
David was born November 20, 1938 in New Haven, CT the son of the late Marius Monterosso and Valentina (Rybcznski) Monterosso Pope. He grew up and was educated in the New Haven area and began working as a draftsman for Lux Clock as a young man prior to spending many years as a custodian for the Watertown School System until his retirement. He served as a board member of the Northwest Regional Mental Health Board for over 14 years and was a long-time parishioner of Saint Mary Magdalen Church. He enjoyed music, food, and watching classic movies. What brought the greatest joy to David was spending time with his family and friends. He was always happiest while being surrounded by his sons and grandchildren.
Besides his wife Beverly of 56 years David is survived by his three sons David Monterosso Jr of Waterbury, Mark Monterosso and his wife, Kathryn of Wolcott and Michael Monterosso and his wife, Cara of Terryville. He also leaves his grandchildren Michael and his wife, Sarah, Melissa, Michaela, Michael Jr., and Caitlyn. He is predeceased by his brother Raymond Monterosso.
Funeral services for Mr. Monterosso will be held on Saturday, January 26th 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalen Church, 16 Buckingham St Oakville, Ct 06779 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery in Southington. Relatives and friends may visit with David's family on Friday evening, January 25th 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville, Ct 06779.
