Debra Anne Ouellette

December 14, 1958 — January 4, 2017

WOODBURY - Debra Anne Ouellette age 58 of Woodbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at The Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of her family after a long but courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of Rimas Smolskis.

Debra was born December 14, 1958 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Martin and Jeannine (Martin) Ouellette. She grew up in Waterbury and was a graduate of Holy Cross High School and received her Nursing Degree form Naugatuck Valley Community College. Debra spent many years working throughout the greater Waterbury area as a Registered Nurse and worked for several health care agencies including, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital and Beacon Brook Health Care Center. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery and was always happiest while spending time with her family, especially her children and granddaughter. She was very proud of her time spent volunteering at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center.

Among her survivors are her children, Derek Smolskis of Woodbury, Kirsten Bright of Charlton, MA., Rena Smolskis of Bethany, Daina Smolskis of Madison, Brandy Shukaitis and Karisa Shukaitis both of Woodbury, her brother, Roland Ouellette of Waterbury and her granddaughter, Nora Bright as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Gerald Ouellette and her sister, Doreen Konizeski.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ouellette will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 10:00am at Saint John the Evangelist Church 585 Main St Watertown. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Family and friends may visit with Debra's family at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Sunday, January 8. 2017. In lieu of flowers, to honor Debra's memory, donations can be made to Treasured Time, Inc. P.O. Box 152, Seymour, CT 06483.
