Longtime Advocate for Patients Undergoing Kidney Dialysis
WATERBURY - Denise P. Delaney, age 57 of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Friday July 13, 2018 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She was the daughter of Timothy Nelson Delaney Sr and the late Shirley Mae (Mitchell) Delaney.
Denise was born on February 11, 1961 in Stamford CT and began her working career as a date entry clerk at Grolier Inc. Denise was plagued with kidney disease early in life and was gifted with kidney transplants twice in her short lifetime. She was a longtime recipient of kidney dialysis and in doing so learned much about the process, its complex and grueling schedule and the difficulties patients experience with reimbursement and insurance coverages. She became an advocate for patients suffering similar diseases and was always ready willing and able to help anyone despite her own illnesses and disabilities. Denise was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waterbury and will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Besides her father, Denise leaves her siblings, her sister, Deborah Delaney Reed and her husband, Jim of Waterbury and her brother, Timothy Nelson Delaney Jr and his wife, Naomi of Pierpont SC and their children; Tray, Tye, James, Elisha, Joshua and Brooklyn. Denise was predecesed by her best friend for 17 years, her cat, Sophia Loren.
Funeral Services for Ms. Delaney will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, 250 Country Club Rd Waterbury CT 06708 with the Rev. Sandra B Mantz, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St has been entrusted to assist her family with arrangements.
