WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Dennis K. Powell, age 73, of Waterbury, announce his peaceful passing on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Joyce R. (Livermore) Powell for 47 amazing years.

Dennis was born on December 20th, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Ronald and Ruth (Lefever) Powell. He graduated from Brookfield High School, and proudly served our country in both the U.S. Navy in 1970-1974 and then joined the U.S. Army. Dennis took great pride in being a U.S. veteran and was very proud of time and service he devoted to our country. He worked for many years for Federal Express and then Joined the Region 14 School District in Bethlehem and Woodbury as a school custodian. He enjoyed bowling and traveling, especially to Virginia but spending time with his adoring family was his favorite thing to do. Dennis was a caring, loving person, who loved his family and friends. He had the special gift of a remarkable memory and never missed a birthday or anniversary. His greatest joy in life was to see others enjoying themselves. Our family thanks you, Dennis, for battling your disease with such bravery, for your incredible strength and the love that you shared with all of us which has helped instill in us a capacity to love that is unending.

Left to cherish his memories, beside his loving wife, Joyce, are his stepdaughters; Sue Miele of Waterbury, Ronda Hendrickson of Terryville, Lily Riley of Naugatuck and Venus Hendrickson of Waterbury, his siblings; David Powell and his wife Maureen of Winsted and Cheryl Fitzsimmons and her significant other of Georgia.
