Dolores Mary Kontout

September 4, 1931 — April 16, 2017

WATERTOWN - Mrs. Dolores "Dee" (Olcik) Kontout, age 85 of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Sunday at home surrounded by her loving family and wonderful caregivers after a long illness. She was the widow of Robert Kontout, Sr. to whom she was married for 36 years.

Dolores was born September 4, 1931 in Oakville, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Brazaitis) Olcik. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and was employed as a key punch operator at American Brass and then became a stay-at-home mom for many years and eventually retired from the Watertown School System but continued to volunteer in the classrooms and library. Dolores enjoyed summers at Bantam Lake, walking, reading, music (especially Rod Stewart) and spending time with her children, grandchildren and dog, Honey. She was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church.

Dolores is survived by her son Robert Kontout Jr. and his wife Karen of FL, her daughters Karen L. Kontout of OH, Susan Morrison of FL, Linda Spillane and her husband Ted of Oakville, Nancy Marinaro and her husband David of Watertown, and Sharon Defeo and her husband Mark of Watertown. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jason Kontout, Cydnee, Baylie, and Jayden Spillane, David and Derek Marinaro, Cameron, Chloe, and Peyton DeFeo, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her sisters Mary Olcik, Helene Wallace, and Carolyn Russell. Dolores was predeceased by her infant daughter Sandra and infant grandson Riley Spillane.
Dolores' family would like to thank Regina Awansi, her exceptional caregiver, for all she did for their mom.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kontout will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Rd., Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Dolores' family on Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St., Oakville CT which has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
