THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF D0LORES STACK

LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHER

WATERBURY - Dolores Stack, 87, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9,
2019 at Saint Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Eugene M. Stack Sr. to whom she was
married for 36 years until his passing in 1987.
Dolores was born June 17, 1931 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Harriet
(Vidutis) Gruzas. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and worked in the main office at Chase
Brass until she, and her husband Gene, started their family. Dolores dedicated herself to her family as a
loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dolores was a parishioner of Saint Francis
Xavier Church and over the years, she served as President of the SFX Ladies Guild and Officer of the
SFX Retiree's Club. She helped organize the ladies retreat and the annual holiday bazaars. She was a
member of the Ladies AOH Auxiliary, and the Washington Park and South Congregational Church
Retirees Clubs. Dolores volunteered at Saint Mary's Hospital, Literacy Volunteers, and for 15 years as a
braille transcriber for the Xavier Society for the Blind. Upon Gene's passing, and with her children
grown, Dolores worked at P&M Typesetting and the Senior Aides Program in Waterbury.
The most important things to Dolores were her family and friends and spending time with them,
especially holidays. She was proud to share her Lithuanian heritage and traditions especially on Easter.
Everyone loved her cooking especially her apple pancakes, bread and rice puddings, cookies, decorated
cakes and Jello Jigglers. She won awards at local fairs for her baking, needlework, flower arranging,
photography and her renowned cow creamer collection that everyone enjoyed helping her collect.
Dolores will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Eugene Stack Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Manchester, Carol Moriarty and her husband, John of Middlebury, Robert Stack of Terryville, and Francis Stack and his wife, Stacy of Newington. In addition, she leaves 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-laws, Mary Christiano, and Christine Gruzas, cousins Anne and Frank Kane, many nieces, nephews and dear friends, especially Marge and Clint Pelkey and Hilda and Joe Kelly. Besides her parents, and her beloved husband Gene, Dolores was
predeceased by her brothers, Thomas J. Gruzas and Raymond J. Gruzas; and her granddaughter Rae
Marie Stack.

The Stack family would like to thank all of Dolores' caring doctors, nurses, CNAs and staff; especially
