OAKVILLE - Mr. Donald "Uncle Donny" V. Furfaro, age 81 of Oakville, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was the devoted husband of Joan (White) Furfaro.
Donald was born September 1, 1934 in Waterbury, the son of the late Rocco and Edith (Nardona) Furfaro. He was educated in local schools and was employed for 38 years at Mattatuck Mfg. in Waterbury and then 10 additional years at Teleflex as Plant Operations Manager and Toolmaker. Donald was also a licensed electrician. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, trips to Aruba, working on old cars, and most of all "his girls" referring to the UCONN Husky Womens Basketball Team.
Besides his devoted wife, Joan of 56 years, Donald leaves his step-son, Gary Lamoureux of Oakville and several nieces, nephews and 2 great nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 South Main St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are kindly invited to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Donald's family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m..at O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville CT 06779.
