THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF DONALD J. LOVEJOY.
WATERBURY - Donald J. Lovejoy, age 82 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at St Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Ann (Jannetty) Lovejoy.
Donald was born on May 9, 1935 in Waterbury, the son of the late Clarence and Ina (Reid) Lovejoy. He attended local schools and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. He worked for many years with the City of Waterbury as a Carpenter, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Donald was an avid golfer, loved watching and routing for the UConn Womens Basketball team but most of all he was committed to his family spending as much time and energy with them as he could. He was most proud of being a grandfather to seven wonderful grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to know and love them.
Besides his wife of 63 wonderful years, Donald leaves his children; Jeffery and his wife, Patricia of Florence AZ, Louis and his wife, Daryl of Newport RI, James and his wife, Leonette of Wolcott and Lois Lovejoy and her boyfriend, Harold Screen of Plainville CT. He also leaves his brother, Robert and his wife, Nancy of Waterbury and his sister, Winifred St. John of Southbridge MA as well as his seven adoring grandchildren; Jeffery Jr, Lynell, Donald, Leonette, Jamie, Jessica, and James Jr. He was predeceased by his son, Dennis Lovejoy.
Funeral services for Mr. Lovejoy will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Donald's family at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
