WATERBURY - Donald Ames "Duke" Pike, age 86 of Waterbury, beloved husband of the late Shirley (Springer) Pike, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Vitas Innovative Health Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Duke was born February 11, 1930 in Watertown, CT., the son of the late Carl and Cora (Wilkinson) Pike. He worked for many years at Stone Container and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having proudly served his country during the Korean War. As a younger man, Duke loved playing horseshoes and bass fishing. He also enjoyed watching the UCONN Women's Basketball, N.Y. Giants and Boston Red Sox and was also an avid gardener.
Duke is survived by his children; David Alan Pike of Watertown, Karol Pike, Barbara Andrews, Donna Ramos, Sharon Pike and Beth Moscariello and her husband, Bano all of Waterbury, sisters, Betty Eykelhoff of Thomaston, June Levesque of Waterbury and Julia Boulanger of Harwington. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brothers James Pike and Herbert Pike and sisters Mary Allegrini and Florence Virginia Germinaro.
Funeral services for Mr. Pike will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Duke's family on Thursday evening from 5:00 pm. until the service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
