WATERTOWN—It is with profound sadness that the family of Donna M. Carroll, age 80, of Watertown, shares the news of her peaceful passing of on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Danbury Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow of John F. "Jack" Carroll Jr
Donna was born January 2, 1944, in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Domenic and Mary (Coviello) Antonacci. She was a proud graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School and went on to earn her undergraduate degree in nursing from Boston College. Her thirst for knowledge led her to achieve a master’s degree in nursing, setting her on a path dedicated to the care and education of others. Throughout her career, she held various nursing positions across Connecticut, including roles in several nursing homes and at Saint Mary’s Hospital, where she retired as the Director of Nursing Education. Her passion for nursing and commitment to her patients made a lasting impact on countless lives. Beyond her professional dedication, Donna was a voracious reader and found joy in the pages of every book she picked up. Her spirit was fueled by curiosity and a love for learning that she generously shared with those around her Donna will be deeply missed but her warmth, kindness and generosity will be forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by her sister, Lucille Peterson.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her stepchildren, John F. Carroll III and his wife, Donna of Brookfield, CT, Christopher Carroll of Waterbury, CT, and her granddaughter, Katherine Carroll, her brother, Dennis Antonacci of Berlin, and sister, Rosemary Bergin of Waterbury as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carroll will be held privately and at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours.
