Beloved Wife and Mother
WATERTOWN – It is with a great sadness and profound grief that we announce the unexpected passing of Doris (Greggis) Augelli, of Watertown, on Tuesday, November 1, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of John Augelli Sr.
Doris was born in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Theodore and Margaret (Thompson) Greggis. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and spent many years working for the City of Waterbury, Victim Services Department, as a counselor and also spent several years working as a pharmacy technician at Fulton Pharmacy. Doris enjoyed taking long rides in her classic convertible with her husband, especially when the rides led them to one of the casinos. She also enjoyed baking Christmas cookies but there was nothing more important to Doris than her son. She was always there to fulfill any request he made and was constantly at all his sporting events cheering him on from the sidelines. Our family thanks you, Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for the thousands of hugs you shared with us, and for the unending love you instilled in all of us. Doris was a stellar example of grace and class. She and John instilled in their son a strong work ethic and the importance of family. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory, besides her husband of 32 years, John Sr, she leaves her son, John Augelli Jr., and his wife Kelsey, of Watertown, her stepdaughter, Erica Augelli, of Waterbury, and her brother, Alan Greggis, of Prospect, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Theodore “Teddy” Greggis.
Funeral services for Mrs. Augelli will be held on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, when a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with the Augelli family on Tuesday evening, November 7, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury.
