AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME - Doris M. (Boutin) Smeeth age 82 formerly of 1091 Buckingham St., Watertown died March 24, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the former wife of Richard A. Smeeth.



Doris was born April 19, 1929 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Philias and Blanche (Couture) Boutin. She lived in Waterbury most of her life, moving to Watertown in 1997. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. Prior to her retirement in 1994, Doris worked in the payroll department at Waterbury Farrell as well as at Utitech Inc. of Watertown. Doris was a member of the Oakville Retirees and the Evergreen Club.




She enjoyed cooking for her family and will be remembered for her endless supply of yarn and knitting needles in which she made blankets for her friends and loved ones. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her many friends. She cherished her time with her grandchildren Emily and Brian Leary also of Watertown. She loved them with "all her heart".





She leaves a daughter Laura Leary and her husband David of Watertown, a step daughter Nancy Smeeth and her husband Atty. John Serrano of Wethersfield, two stepsons David Smeeth and his wife Angela of the Netherlands, Richard "Craig" Smeeth and his wife Sharin of Germany, her grandchildren Emily and Brian Leary of Watertown, Andrew, Benjamin and Julian Serrano of Wethersfield, David Smeeth of Miami, FL, Kaitlyn and Lauren Smeeth of the Netherlands, and Caleb and Allie Smeeth of Germany. She leaves two cousins, Lori Imbimbo of Prospect and Viviane Bisco of Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her sister Inette Pettinicchi.




The family would like to thank the Watertown Convalarium for the wonderful care that she received as well as the staff and doctors at the SICU at Waterbury Hospital for their kindness and compassion in her final hours.




A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Burial will be held at the convenience of her family in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. There will be no calling hours.
