AT THE O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME IN OAKVILLE
OAKVILLE - Mrs. Doris Eleanore Smith age 88, of Riverside St Oakville, passed away Friday October 19th 2012 at Abbott Terrace Health Care Center in Waterbury after an extended illness. She was the wife of Charles Smith Jr.
Mrs. Smith was born February 8th 1924 in Detroit Michigan, the daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Martinski) Anderson. She grew up in New York City and was a graduate of Lane High School in Queens. She worked as a secretary at Nelson Woodward Advertising in Ridgefield for many years before her retirement and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America where she served as a den mother for many years. She was a parishioner of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Thomaston.
Besides Charles, her husband of 58 years, she is also survived by her sons, William A. Smith of Bridgeport and Charles Smith III and his wife Lisa of Bethel, as well as her five grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her brother, William Anderson and her sister Marion Anderson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 1:00 pm at the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St. Oakville, followed by interment and the rite of committal in Evergreen Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
