AT THE CASEY - O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME -New Hartford - Dorothy Ann (Muckle) Crandall, age 76, of Whitbeck Rd. New Hartford, formerly of Prospect, died unexpectedly on Monday at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. She was the widow of James Crandall.
Mrs. Crandall was born on February 13, 1933 in Torrington CT, the daughter of the late Edward and Susan (Kowalsky) Muckle. She was a graduate of Torrington High School and the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed for many years as a Registered Nurse at Waterbury Hospital. Following her retirement from nursing, she was able to take up her true passion in life, gardening and was recently the proud founder of Dotty's Greenhouse in New Hartford. Dorothy was an active member of the Waterbury Hospital, School of Nursing, Alumni Association. Dorothy was a gentle, loving and caring person and touched many lives through her years of nursing, raising her family, whom she was especially proud of and was always happiest in their company.
Among her survivors are her three sons and their families: James and his wife JoAnn of Wolcott, David and his wife Dawn of Prospect and Garry and his wife Jeannette of New Hartford, her seven grandchildren, James, Allen, Dale, Kara, Kyle, Sara and Nicole. Dorothy also leaves her brothers, John Muckle of Prospect, Joseph Muckle of New Hartford, her sisters, Elsie Borowy of Torrington and Mary Wilhelm of Coventry and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Brian and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crandall will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10:00am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to St. Anthony's Church, Routes 68 & 69 Prospect, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Family and friends may visit the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 till 10:00am.
