WATERBURY, CT - Mrs. Dorothy J. Curley, age 90 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of George Curley.
Mrs. Curley was born in Waterbury CT on June 25,1924, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Gillette) Maxwell. A lifelong Waterbury resident, Dorothy spent many years working as a machine operator at Waterbury Buckle before her retirement. There was nothing more important to Dorothy than her devotion to her family. She enjoyed baking and was always happiest surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Saint Francis Xavier Church and volunteered for many years at Waterbury Hospital.
Among her survivors are her six sons; George Curley of CA; John Curley of Wolcott; Francis Curley of Newport, RI; Michael Curley of FL; Thomas Curley of Maryland, and James Curley of Wallingford, her five daughters, Carol Plourde of FL, Patricia Naughton of Cape Cod, MA; Dorothy Christman of Waterbury; Kathleen "Kathy" Case of Naugatuck; and Mary Ellen Mansfield of Naugatuck. She also leaves her sister, Mary Tracy of Waterbury, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and close family friends including the McCasland Family.
Funeral services for Mrs. Curley will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center," 1987 East Main St.,@ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St., Waterbury where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Dorothy's family on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 ~ 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Dorothy's memory be made to: Dog for Tess C/O Kathleen Case 73 Crestwood Dr. Naugatuck, CT 06770.
