Enjoyed a life well lived
OAKVILLE – Dorothy Ann DellaCamera age 88 of Oakville, passed away peacefully with her
family by her side on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Nursing Center of Waterbury, She was the
widow of John J. DellaCamera who passed away in 2009.
Dorothy was born December 1, 1934 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Willis and Mary
(VanWagner) Thompson. She was educated in local schools and spent the majority of her life
caring for her family who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed knitting and an occasional book
but everything in her life was centered around her family. She was a longtime devoted
parishioner of St Mary Magdalen Church and an active member of the Catholic Womens
Organization (CWO) there. Our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for
the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the
unending love you instilled in all of us.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memories are her daughters; Debora Mainstruck and
her husband, Andy of Upton MA, Doreen Collins and her husband Dan of Northfield and
Pamela Kinzley and her husband Chad of Damascus PA. She also leaves her sister, Beverly
Shaw of Ocala FL. Dorothy and John were blessed with 10 grandchildren who adored their
grandmother and 5 great grandchildren; Matthew J. Mainstruck, Nicholas A. Mainstruck, Kadie
Berry, Timothy DellaCamera, Sara Collins, John Ireton Jr, Stacey Campanella, Chad Kinzley,
Cody Kinzley and Kaily Walthour. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and treasured
friends. She was predeceased by her son John Jr and her daughter, Robin Ireton and her
siblings; Willis Thompson, George Thompson, James Cronin and Mary Culver.
Funeral services for Mrs. DellaCamera will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 when a Mass
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church 16 Buckingham St Oakville
at 10:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial
will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Casey-O’Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main St.,
