Wolcott ?" Dorothy E. (Wallace) Dionne age 68, of Grilleytown Rd. Waterbury, died Monday, August 31st at Wolcott View Manor Health Care Center after a long but valiant battle with cancer. She was the wife of William Dionne Sr.
Mrs. Dionne was born May 24th 1941 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Frank and Violet (Johnson) Wallace. She attended local schools and worked as a certified nurses aide (CNA) at the former New Lakeview Convalescent Center as well as the former Park Manor Convalescent Center for over 35 years before her retirement.
Dorothy enjoyed any type of challenging puzzles especially crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, and grandchildren, sharing with them all the love and care she had.
Besides her husband, William of 33 years, Dorothy is survived by her son, Roger Porter of Plymouth, CT, her step children William Dionne Jr, of Waterbury, Gary Dionne, of Waterbury and Jeannie Dionne, of Tennessee, a sister Barbara Porter of Waterbury, two grandchildren Amber and Jessica Porter and 15 step grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her step son Mark Dionne, her brothers, Ronald, Richard, & Francis Wallace, and Herbie and Robert Johnson. The Dionne family would like to give special thanks and recognition to the nursing staff at Wolcott View Manor for the personal care they provided to Dorothy over these past several weeks.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dionne will be held on Thursday September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9-11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory can be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd.
