WOLCOTT - Dorothy Mae Doolittle, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Wolcott View Manor surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was the wife of the late William (Tom) Doolittle, having married in 1947.
Dorothy was born in Westfield, Massachusetts on June 23, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Lucy (Champlin) Bolton. She worked at Rural Gas Co. during her teen years and graduated from Westfield High School. She was active in PTA's, Scouting, teaching Sunday School, member of the New Life Christian Church, as well as working as the secretary for Buck's Hill Community Club, remaining on the Board until recently. In 1996, she retired as Recreation Director of the Waterbury Convalescent Center. Dot loved singing, along with her sister, especially for the servicemen at Westover Air Reserve Base in Massachusetts. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, ping-pong and motorcycle rides with her husband.
Dorothy is survived by her four children: Donna Weaving and her husband, Gary of Wolcott, Janet Dillon and her husband, Gene and Joanne Sebastiano and her husband, James all of Florida, Bill Doolittle and his wife, Susan of Waterbury, and 14 grandchildren: April, Dawn, Heather, Darin, Gene, Kristen, Michelle, Jennifer, Sara, Becky, Billy III, Jimmy, Amanda and Jordan; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Niki, Randy, Justin, Shelby, Sabrena, Sammantha, Jacob, Sienna, Ellie-Mae, Nia and Scarlet and her great, great grandson, Caiden. She also leaves her sister, Ruth Heath and her husband Louis of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her grandson, Kevin, and her sister-in-law, Lois Thut.
Funeral services for Mrs. Doolittle will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial will follow in Bucks Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Dorothy's family on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 til 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
