WATERBURY -Dorothy Cecilia (King) Kane, age 93, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Thursday January 21st 2016 surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was the widow of Leonard Kane.
Dorothy was born at home on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1922 the daughter of the late Agnes and George King and moved to Connecticut from New York at a young age. She lived in Stamford and Fairfield, and most recently in Naugatuck and Waterbury. She was active in the Fairfield Senior Center doing video work and enjoyed belonging to the Senior Walking group. She was an avid reader and attended many classes at Sacred Heart University.
Among her survivors are her daughter and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Toni Lanou of Monmouth, OR; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tracy Kane of Naugatuck, her grandchildren, Justin and Brittany Kane, her step grandchildren, Richard, Jessica and Amy in addition to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Sarah, Agnes and Eleanor, and her brothers, George and Jack.
A memorial service in Mrs. Kane Memory will be held on March 12th 2016 at 10:00am at Saint Maurice Church 358 Glenbrook Rd, Stamford, CT 06906 followed by burial in Saint John Cemtery Stamford. In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by donating to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
