"Devoted, wife, mother and grandmother"

WATERBURY- Dorothy "Peggy" (Mahon) Leonard, age 75, of Waterbury, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Norman V. Leonard.

Peggy was born on May 16, 1944, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy (Moore) Mahon. She was educated in local schools and resided in Waterbury and Wolcott, CT, as well as Port St. Lucie, FL. Peggy loved to travel and enjoyed dancing. Above all else, Peggy was devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She worked for many years as a Travel Agent with Scully Travel in Wolcott, and as a successful, licensed Realtor in the greater Waterbury area and in Port St. Lucie, FL. Peggy will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Left to cherish her memory and honor her love and legacy are her children Edward Grant, Jr. and his wife Michele (Sorbo) of Waterbury; Tara Haigler and her husband William "John" of Port St. Lucie, FL; and Erin Leonard of Verona, NJ. Peggy was blessed with 2 grandchildren, Corinne and Kevin Haigler of Port St. Lucie, FL; as well as two stepsons, Mark Leonard of Venice, FL, and Bryan Leonard and his wife Leslie of Pewaukee, WI. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Richard and Francis Mahon.

Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines and associated governmental restrictions regarding the pandemic, all services will be held privately. Once the restrictions are lifted, a community memorial service will be announced. Mrs. Leonard will be laid to rest with her husband in Florida at the convenience of her family. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been honored to assist the Leonard family during this difficult time.
