CHESHIRE - Douglas A. Burke, age 63 of Cheshire, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at the Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford on Saturday, January 30th 2016 after an extended illness. He was the husband of Michele (St. Germain) Burke.

Doug was born November 2nd 1952 in Waterbury, CT, the son of Frances (Kirouac) Burke and the late George Burke. He spent many years working as a Park Ranger for the Connecticut DEEP at Black Rock and Sleeping Giant State Parks and also worked as a bus driver for New Britain Transportation. Doug loved nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors; hiking, hunting, kayaking and fishing. He loved his motorcycle rides and enjoyed traveling. What Doug enjoyed the very most was spending time with his family gathered around the table, playing cards after a Saturday meal.

Besides his wife Michele of 33 years and his mother Frances of Wolcott, Doug is survived by his sisters, Sharon Bennett of MA, Peggy Goffredo of Waterbury and Frances Creem and her husband Ken of Wolcott. In addition, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Burke will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 9:00a.m. From Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin Street Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with Doug's family at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4:00pm ~8:00pm. In lieu of flowers to honor Doug's memory, donations can be made to: Saint Jude's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place
