COLORADO SPRINGS CO - Dr. Ronell Lamar Blizzard PhD age 37, formerly of Waterbury, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Penrose Main Hospital.
Dr. Blizzard was born on February 22, 1978 in Waterbury, the son of Vanessa Blizzard. He was a graduate of Cheshire Academy, Sacred Heart High School and the University of Connecticut, Class of 2006. He furthered his studies at UMass Amherst and was awarded a PhD in Sports Management. He was employed as an Assistant Professor at Newbury College in Brookline MA and at the time of his passing was a Professor at Johnson & Wales College in Miami FL. He also consulted for Post University in Waterbury. Ronell was a standout and renown basketball player for Sacred Heart High School, UMass and played professionally in the Argentinian League. Ronell was continuing his studies in law with hopes to become a lawyer. An accomplished author, he had published one book and was working on his second. Ronell loved to cook, was an avid traveler but most of all loved being with his family. His infectious smile and sense of humor could make anyone laugh.
Besides his loving Mother, Vanessa, Ronell leaves his siblings; Devon, Sharod, Michael and Marquita Blizzard all of Waterbury, his Aunt, Mattie Blizzard special cousins, Jackie, Margaret, Emma and Tyrone Blizzard, his special friend Manya Whitaker who was with him in Colorado and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Dr. Blizzard will be held on Saturday, July 11 2015, at 11:0 a.m. when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St. Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
